Packages for Mandriva can be found both in the contrib repository, and in the MandrivaClubNL repository.
Contrib is an official Mandriva repository, but is usually not updated to the latest version.
MandrivaClubNL is the repository of the Duth MandrivaClub
After you have set up your sources right, you can install Freevo, simply by typing this command:
# urpmi freevo
How to set up the contrib or MCNL source
Just issue the command for the Contrib or MandrivaClubNL source below, and your ready to go. Note that the commands are all 1 single line!!
urpmi.addmedia contrib ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/Mandrakelinux/official/2008.0/i586/media/contrib/release with media_info/hdlist.cz
urpmi.addmedia MandrivaClub.NL ftp://ftp.surfnet.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/mandrakeclubnl/2008.0/i586/release with hdlist.cz
Mandriva 2007.1 Spring
urpmi.addmedia contrib ftp://ftp.surfnet.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/Mandriva/official/2007.1/i586/media/contrib/release with media_info/hdlist.cz
urpmi.addmedia MandrivaClub.NL ftp://ftp.surfnet.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/mandrakeclubnl/2007.1/i586/release with hdlist.cz
urpmi.addmedia contrib ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/Mandrakelinux/official/2007.0/i586/media/contrib/release with ./media_info/hdlist.cz
urpmi.addmedia MandrivaClub.NL ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/mandrakeclubnl/2007/i586 with hdlist.cz
On older versions of Mandriva Linux (10.1 or higher) Freevo 1.5 is available from the official sources. You just have to run
# urpmi freevo
Note: you may have to configure software repositories for urpmi. There is a wizard called easy urpmi to assist in this task (see http://www.urpmi-addmedia.org/). You should have sources for Contrib & possibly PLF for things like decss.
Issues: There's a problem with the PIL library on mandrake 10.1 so if you can't see images thumbnails or folders the problem may come from there.
To get it to work, downgrade the python-imaging package on Mandrake to release #3 (python-imaging-1.1.4-3mdk) which can be found in the main RPMS tree of the mandrake 10.0 version and works like a charm.
do as root :
# urpme python-imaging # curl ftp://ftp.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/linux/mandrakelinux/official/10.0/i586/Mandrake /RPMS/python-imaging-1.1.4-3mdk.i586.rpm -o python-imaging-1.1.4-3mdk.i586.rpm # urmpi python-imaging-1.1.4-3mdk.i586.rpm
(Example with a German repositorie of mandrake 10.0, for an i586 install)
Note: Mandrake 10.1 comes with freevo version 1.5.1. As of 25 Jan 2005 updated packages are available for cooker (1.5.3 at the moment).
